Department of Chemistry

The Department of Chemistry at GDC Memorial College was established with the vision of promoting quality education in the chemical sciences and developing scientific temperament among students. The Department is dedicated to excellence in teaching, research, and innovation. It aims to provide a strong foundation in chemical sciences while fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and scientific curiosity among students. The department offers undergraduate and postgraduate programs designed to meet contemporary academic and industrial needs.

Initially starting with undergraduate courses (B.Sc. Non-Medical - Programme in 2011 and B.Sc. Medical Programme in 2013), the department has steadily grown in terms of infrastructure, academic resources, and faculty strength. Over the years, it has developed well-equipped laboratories and modern teaching facilities to support both theoretical and practical learning. In 2016, the department expanded its academic horizon with the introduction of the M.Sc. Chemistry Programme.

Our faculty members are highly qualified and actively engaged in research in emerging areas such as green chemistry, materials science, environmental chemistry, and analytical techniques. The department emphasizes a student-cantered approach, integrating theoretical knowledge with practical applications.
